I was asked about that just today. I have a colleague who is gluten intolerant (no breads, grains, flour, wheat - basically all the good things in life).

She carries a hypodermic that will save her if she accidentally ingests some. We think the airlines would confiscate it and keep it on the plane and give it to her if she needs it. But we are not sure.
