I still don't believe that being restricted (or not totally free) in where I can go in an airport OR what I can carry on a plane because of safety constitutes inroads to Nazism.
If I can save just ONE life by being a little inconvenienced or some restrictions (and not totally free as I once was) at an airport I have a hard time seeing the big issue.
If you measure the terrorist success by causing AMERICANS some inconvenience at the airport, THEY WIN!
If you measure AMERICA'S success by keeping terrorist off our airplanes, WE WIN!
Sometimes people give up a little to gain a lot (think about that before you blast).
Over the years criminals have caused me to lose more freedom than the government has. When I grew up we seldom locked our doors. Kids used to play without fear of being kidnapped. I used to board a plane UNCHECKED. When I was young a Gang had a leader named Spanky. No one ever knew what "a drive by" was in reference to. I must admit I didn’t get paranoid of Nazis when the metal detectors were installed in the courthouse nor did I wrap the flag around me and scream my rights were violated. I was intelligent enough to understand the reason for this requirement.
As far as the military guarding our airports, I think there are enough people needing work that the military shouldn't be required. I do believe they (airport security) should all work for the same agency (Gov't).
In another post humor has been poked at some of the illogical things that are going on and the craziness. I have also seen an email that states there was nothing wrong with the way security was! (Maybe that person didn't notice that 4 airplanes were hijacked last Tuesday).
Instead of telling me how Nazi my comments are, or telling me terrorists have rights too tell me a solution to NOT having 5,000+ people dead because of four airplanes being hijacked. Tell me a way for America to protect itself from criminals both domestic and international without compromising anyone’s freedom and access.
That should keep the fire burning all afternoon!
