A concerned chipper emailed me about the layout of the two towers at the World Trade Center.
I heard this confused many times on the news and I am glad for a question that I can answer.
The northern-most building WAS One World Trade Center. My office was on the 82nd floor. This was the building that was hit first. From my talks with my co-workers and staff, it appears to have it on about the 90th floor. The southern-most tower, 2 WTC was hit second but it collapsed first.
Four people that I spoke to had just reached the bottom after about an hour of walking down the stairs and were in the Shopping Concourse that connected the buildings when 2 WTC collapsed sending black smoke and debris through the Concourse so that they could not see and had to feel their way out. They escaped with minor physical injuries, but emotionally they are not well, understandably.
