I understand the tendency to look with some suspicion upon someone of Middle Eastern origin at this time. This is a natural reaction. The fact remains, however, that we have committed a grave injustice during one period of our history due to this suspicion taken to the extreme.
As you know, many fine Americans of Japanese origin lost their property (many businesses), and were locked up in internment camps. When I was in elementry school my best friend was an American of Japanese descent. I asked my parents about the camps and why. They told me that at the time, Americans were scared and angry, and did the wrong thing. Let us not do the same thing.
