I'm sure our club officers are paying attention, Archie, and I'm also sure that the most important thing on their mind regarding this issue is what's best for the entire membership and hobby.
Yes, you're correct. I, too, as others, do not support a ban but I am against slabbing (see my profile at http://www.ccgtcc.com for what I feel regarding slabbing companies). My last public comment regarding the board's last decision regarding the ban was that they should reconsider #2 which would allows slabbing companies who are only in business for the sole purpose to slab chips and tokens be permitted to buy table space at our convention. This portion of their decision I do not favor, and I have requested of the club officers that they reconsider #2 and not allow these companies who could care less about you, me or any club members 0001 to 5500+.
Regarding any slabbing company; grading; whatever, they can take their product and stick it up their nose. I, personally, have no use for them, but this does not give me the power to suggest that any member from 0001 to 5500+ should be denied access to our convention for either bringing in a slabbed item to sell/buy/trade or to demand they be escorted from the floor for having a slabbed item on their person. I can't do it; I won't do it!
If I had to make a wager, I would say that those slabbing companies who were in breach of their table agreement this year will not have a table at our convention next year.
Regarding why others have clammed up... I don't know why.
