In Ontario our health care is funded by a employer health tax and the Govt. As an employer you are required to remit 1.5% of your total payroll every month to the Provincial Gov't. This is how we are able to walk into a hospital at anytime and receive care. We have homeless people too and they can get the care they need if they choose. We have just received another increase in our parental leaves. A parent can now take off up to 52 weeks leave paid at 55% of your wage to a maximum of $450.00 per week. All this does come at a price last year my marginal tax rate was 47% of my income.
