"Shall I also turn off my swimming pool filter and let my pool water turn green in order to save electricity? I think I'm leaning toward the 24/7 solution."
The food in your refrigerator will also turn green if you turn off the electricity.
My point is, if it doesn't NEED to be turned on, don't leave it turned on!
If the device is something that you want to last for a long time but isn't something that you use 24/7, it will last longer if you shut it off when you aren't using it!
And you will be conserving energy!
And you won't run the risk of a short starting a fire when a device that isn't meant to be left on is left on 24/7!
A fire gutted my business in 1980, started by a short in a rechargable soldering iron's recharging unit. I left that stuff plugged in overnight so it would always be fresh first thing in the morning. Now, every rechargable tool has the power cut to it at the end of the day, everyday.
IF IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE ON, SHUT IT OFF!!
