Damn O'sheas Chips
I don't get to Vegas all that often. So when I happen to be there this past Sunday, I was delighted to here O'sheas was releasing its limited set of car chips at 7pm. Everything I did that day was planned around getting to O'sheas to acquire a set for myself.
Well, I arrived at 6pm to avoid any lines at the cage. There wasn?t anyone in line waiting for the sets. I asked the cashier if the chips were still going to be released at 7. She really didn't know, so she asked someone else and that person said they would indeed be released at 7.
Okay?so far so good?right? Now, I ask the woman if she thought there was going to be a big demand or big line waiting for these chips at 7 o'clock (I still didn't know the limited quantity of the sets). She shrugged her shoulders and didn't think there was going to be any rush.
Now my big mistake (besides not knowing the quantity), I decide to go get something to eat! That was a great meal, and it lasted a little longer than I expected. So I arrived back at the cage thirty minutes past seven o'clock.
No rush right? All is still quite. I approach the cashier and ask her for a set of newly released limited edition car chips. ?SOLDOUT!? What? Where did that come from? Who came and got these chips? How can that be? I was just there!!
I'm then told the chip sets sold quickly (duh). There were very few sets offered at the cage (she told me 10 or 12!). The casino had a list of names already claiming a majority of the sets.
Well, first of all, I want to know why I couldn't have been put on that list when I inquired about the set an hour before they went on sale? I wasn't even told of a list to begin with! Secondly, what the hell is a casino offering 10 to 12 sets of a collectible chip to the public in the first place? Why bother? It's not worth it. I wouldn?t call that an offering at all.
I'm not totally into LE's?or O'shea chips in general. I just thought it would be cool to get a newly released chip from an obscure casino that usually has a good chip design. I understand there is a resale market and dealers want to capitalize on LE's and all that blah?blah?blah. But damn?I was right there and still couldn't reel a set in. That is not very collector friendly?is it?
