Archie, my guess (not much info to go on) it that there is a conflict with another peice of hardware, modem, printer, soundcard, etc. The SCSI scanners (have to plug into a scsi card) have this problem often. BUT any of them can, windows automaticly assigns resources at boot-up. Look at the setting>control panel>system SELECT Device Manager {TAB} and look for a YELLOW ASTRICK this tells you there is a conflict with that peice of hardware...... check that first them go from there...
