Whether because of my post or that of Jim Reilly, the seller canceled the auction. Here is what he said:
This poker chip is known to be from the personal collection of Minnesota Fats.
It has no face value and was for personal use, it is in good condition on one
side the other side is fair. This is a totally cool item to own. Buyer pays flat
shipping of $1.00 and it will be insured at my expense. NO RESERVE! will
ship to US only please/thank you.

On Aug-17-01 at 14:12:50 PDT, seller added the following information:

...in order to satisfy an ebay user who thinks I am mistaken in my discription I
will make the following revision...this user doesn't want me to say "know for
personal use" please note this change, I will be as accomodating as possible and
know that the above listed information was passed on to me. Thank you for
your undersanding in this matter.

On Aug-19-01 at 07:51:17 PDT, seller added the following information:

I am sorry to inform you all, due to the confusion as to the nature of this chip
this auction is being cancelled by the me, the seller. I apoplogize for any
inconvenience this may have caused. It is certainly not my intention to auction
any item that is not authentic and true to description. The information stated
above is true to my knowlende and was told to me. I will have to do some more
investigating, I may have been misled by my seller. Anyway, Thank you for
your time and understanding in this matter. Feel free to email me with any
