I made such an assumption some time ago based on the cost of some fantasy chips that I had seen for sale. If buying these chips for a home set you would pay around .65 a piece for chips very similar to those used by casinos. I was corrected a few times by people who actually order some of the chips for casinos that my prices were low. It has never really been mentioned how much they cost. Probably because it can very due to various considerations.
First, there would be a set up charge by the manufacturer to set the equipment for a run. Then you have to consider the cost of creating the artwork. If the chip is going to have the same art front and back than you will have one price but some casinos will choose two designs. One for each side. So double the art costs. Then you have the number of chips that are going to be produced. If you order more chips of a run than the cost per chip will be less since all the other expenses so far are fixed. They do not very on the numbers. If you are producing a LE chip than the price per chip will be more as you have to divide the set up and art costs by fewer chips. Someone did mention that there is also a factor for how much business a given supplier is getting from a casino. The supplier may quote a lower price if the casino is ordering a lot of new chips or if they buy their tables and cards and dice from a distributor. If on the other hand a casino is going to a supplier and only ordering about 10 additions of chips a year from him, and nothing else, the price may be more.
