My mother-in-law’s dog had some type of knee problem that required a special surgery. The vet here (in Beaumont) recommended a surgeon in Houston. So we went. After pulling into the exclusive place there were multi-level gardens and the offices looked like a hospital (3 story). Inside there were departments for admitting, emergency, allergy, oncology, surgery, and the list goes on and on. Turning a corner there was a restaurant in this place! Along the hallways there were professional portraits of the animals and their owners. All of this very professional, very exclusive and very YUPPIE. Every dog in ther was manicured and perfectly groomed - NO MUTS in this joint!! Oh forgot to mention in the parking lot all the Jags, Lincolns, BMWs, Merc’s, and a few expensive cars too! Well after the examination we left the dog for surgery over night. The PRICE TAG on this was $1277.00!! AND the dog has to have the OTHER leg done in 6 weeks (for another $1200 bucks). IS THIS CRAZY???? I like dogs, my mother-in-law’s dog is her only companion since her husband died. I manage all of her financial matters, and know she can afford it. BUT there must be a limit! For $2500 she could buy thr dog an electric wheelchair! (or ... well. I won't mention the OTHER alternative that comes to mind)
I am smart, I kept my mouth shut.....
AMAZED & DISMEYED
