... to mean that they WILL slab the entire issue of selected cards. That is, Topps will produce a limited issue of some kind, PSA will grade/slab the entire issue and ONLY THEN will they be made available to collectors.
Which, of course, means that the price will have to be considerably higher than would normally be charged for new cards (as it will have to include the cost of slabbing).
This is our worst nightmare come true (and exactly what Janice was referring to in her post).
A future announcement might read something like this:
>> Collectors Universe, Inc. (Nasdaq: CLCT) and [insert the name of any casino you like] today announced that the companies have signed a marketing and exclusive grading agreement for the casino's limited edition gaming chips.
>> Financial terms were not disclosed.
>> Under the three-year agreement, Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA), a division of Collectors Universe will grade selected limited edition chips supplied by the casino prior to their distribution and sale. <<
