Pete,
First, my purpose is not to disagree with you or anyone else. My analogy of Slabbed chips to Salem, MA had nothing to do with a "witch hunt". The point I was trying to make is that a lot of people went overboard over a "perceived" problem. Since we don't yet have a problem with slabbed chips, it is a "perceived" problem. And I think a lot of people are going overboard on this issue. Some, thankfully, are taking a healthier approach.
On the 6 points I made in my first post, those are my honest opinions. I was at the convention, but behind a table most of the time. I did not have the time to peruse every dealer's table, each day., although I wish I had. I did not see any slabbed chips at the convention, other than those sample chips at the slabber's tables. I was near one of the slabber's tables and he had absolutely no business, at least while I was watching. None. He was mostly reading a book and he did leave early.
I guess I had a mental lapse, when I said "three distinguished members". I should have said two. Maybe Jim and Gene contribute so much to the convention, it just seems like they do the work of three.
