Think about it though, If a slabbed chip comes up at the auction and someone bids on it, everyone will know who that person is, Very public. If no one bids on the chip the seller will have that very public expression to think about. As you said about a dealer puting a slab on his table and noticing the response and reaction. A seller at an auction will notice the same except more publicly. Plus, other collectors will, hopefully witness the uselessness of a slabbed chip when no one bids on it. They might start to realize that slabbing is a detraction from the value of a chip rather than an enhancement. Hopefully a slabbed chip will not get a significant response and the club won't profit from it. But then you have the issue of should the club allow items in a "FUND RAISING" auction that won't generate much funds. Maybe wishful thinking but hopfully my prophecy will turn to be true.
