Hi Rich,
I think that a boycott of the convention is the wrong approach, but I understand why some people might consider it.
I don't think slabs should be banned from dealer's tables. I want those who choose to sell slabbed casino chips to experience first hand the reaction they'll receive from collectors (and former customers.)
I thought that ICG and Collectors Universe wouldn't be able to get tables at next year's convention because they broke their contracts by leaving early this year. If that is not the case, then I do support a ban on slabbing companies at the convention.
The part of this controversy that I have the strongest feelings about is slabbed chips in the club auction. If they are allowed in the club auction, I view that as the club giving the product, at the very least, an official sign of approval. Not only that, but the club itself would be directly profiting from the sale of slabbed chips by charging the auction commissions.
I don't believe there is anything that I could write that would get our points across to the BOD in a more profound manner than Jim and Gene's resignations have. If that doesn't give the powers-that-be second thoughts about their votes, nothing will....
