I assume you are talking about formatting your hard drive. If you can look past the loss of your irreplaceable data, it can be a good thing as all kinds of files, folders, programs, etc... that aren't used anymore accumulate on ones hard drive over the years & slow things down. I lost a hard drive a year ago in an older Dell that I have, & it now runs much faster than it did before, though it was traumatic at the time as I'm sure your recent event was.
