Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to share your virus and anti-virus stories on this bulletin board. Unfortunately, I was pre-occupied with other projects the past few days(scanning chip images for my new web-site) that I didn't have time for reading this bulletin board. Most of you know that I spend a lot of time reading and posting to thechipboard.com and only through this unfortunate period of several days, I've missed being up to date as to what was happening around me.
When I received the email virus from Rene last night, asking for my advice, I didn't give it a thought and opened up his attachment which was an invoice offering several $100 chips (presumably Atlantic City) that I was not familiar with. As a result, I've got one hell of a mess here in NJ. Many of my Windows files are gone.... my email connection is gone.... many of my word documents were wiped out (fortunately most of them were backed up on floppies) and I don't know where to turn to next.... short of doing a complete System Restoral and say, "to hell with the lost files."
It's been a valuable lesson that will be remembered for a long, long time. If anyone has emailed me in the past 20 hours or so... please don't expect a prompt reply ..... as this machine is inoperable as far as emails are concerned. I hope that help is on the way.
Meanwhile, it just so happens that I bought a brand new Dell machine over the weekend; intending to hook up at my weekend retreat in Atlantic City. I guess I'll be bringing it back to Brick with me on Monday morning.
