The Pascua Yaqui Tribe, which currently has a single casino facility, named Casino of the Sun, will be opening a second facility in October. The new facility (a resort) will be called Casino del Sol, and will be about a mile from the existing Casino of the Sun, which will remain.

The poker room, however, will move to the new facility. As many already know, the Casino of the Sun poker room was once closed, but has re-opened very recently.

They currently use the old rack of 1, 2, 5 and 25 dollar chips. (I have not seen any 100's.) During the time that the poker room was closed, the casino sold (for face) their poker room chips. With the exception of the fractionals (and perhaps the 100's) all those chips are live once again.

Tournament chips (six different colors), which were sold 6 for $5, have been replaced by plastic Unicorn, Hot Stamp chips. However, in Tournament play the old purple and black Tournament chips are still used in Tournaments. The black is a re-buy chip, that once bought is immediately exchanged (at the poker table) for an old purple Tournament chip.

So here we have a chip that was no longer valid for redemption, but could be bought at the cage, and then later it became live, but instead of being a 100 NCV chip (the black) it became a re-buy chip.

Interesting.
