Last night I opened my Norton and did a "Live Update". For those who are not familiar, what you do is go online then open your Norton AV Program . In the top corner is a button called "Live Update". That will open Norton's site and compare your software and "Virus Definitions", etc. with current versions and will tell you if something is outdated. You can then select any or all updates and update them. With a new version of Norton you have, I think a year, of free updates. After that, you have to "Renew Your Subscription". I did it back in January(?) and I think it cost about $15 for a year.
Anyways, while doing the update I found that my definitions were over a month old. Also I found an update to Norton 2001. I downloaded both updates. Theoretically, My software is up to date. I strongly recommend that everyone out there persue the same options. If you use Norton and have an expired subscription. I would renew it. Might be the best money you spend. As for McAfee and others? I am not familiar with them so I will leave them for those who use them to explain.
