Thank you for posting the information. All this talk of Viruses scares the **** out of me. I even got one of those hoaxes the other day and went and deleted the mentioned file. Fortunately, as I understand I can simply re-install it from my windows discs. Your post did prompt me to upload new virus definitions tonight along with the upgrade to Norton 2001. Once finished I scanned my computer over again, even though it was just done last night. Every thing seems fine though.

People need to be vigilant and suspicious of any unexpected email. It is even worse when the virus comes from someone whom you are expecting a letter from. I got hit last year by a message that came from another chipper. He sent me an email re an eBay auction and another message immediately followed. I though it was legit and a continuation of the previous note so I opened it. Fortunately, my Norton caught it and quarentined it. From what I understand, it would have devestated my hard drive had it not been caught.

People need to get AV software and use it. I keep mine active at all times. That catches stuff incoming. I also have it autoscan once a week to catch anyting that may have been missed before. As I understand, and I hope I am not wrong, as an AOL subscriber I am at less risk. My email does not automatically open attachments. I have to deliberately select open to open an attachment. Either that or select a link in a message. That brings up the point also that you should not click links on unknown email. I know other people who use other ISPs and their email software automatically opens all attachments when the email is downloaded for offline viewing. I understand that some software may give you a prefference option to NOT OPEN ATTACHMENTS when downloading mail. Our fellow chippers out there should check their preferences to see if they have that option. It might save them from unwanted frustration. Thanks again for keeping us alert.
