I've wondered about those embossed numeral chips as well. Seymour pictures a 1, a 500, and every increment of 5 up to 100. Must come from a long-forgotten game.

Regarding your deceased clay chip, the bible has advice on the subject:

...for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

I guess it's into the dust bin with it.
