No - Your description works... I'll buy that in a minute.
My problem here is I have been trying to equate chips with US currency and freeways and computer equipment and find a way to articulate the "common theory" behind being "obsolete".
So I can complicate peanut butter on sliced bread too I AGREE that Larry's description of "obsolete" and agree it WORKS for CHIPS. Not 100% because there will always be that casino that re-issues something for some reason or uses another casino's chips. But these things are unpredictable. I thought the point behind a chipper's glossary was to define certain terms so we could be consistent as possible with each other.
THE REASON I EVEN HAVE AN OPINION HERE IS SIMPLE: NOTHING PISSES ME OFF MORE (ooo! I didn't the Board was going to let me use that word ) than to have someone sell me a "obsolete" chip - and discover their definition is something like "well - the casino ran out that day so they are obsolete". Later I learn I paid 4-5x face value BELIEVING the chip was not and would (probably) never be available from the casino - when IN REALITY - I or ANYONE could have walked in and gotten them at face.
I FEEL IT IS dishonest and misleading for one to slap an "obsolete" label on chips to justify jacking up the price just because one can not walk in and check themselves (due to location and having jobs and stuff... we can't all be everywhere, can we??)
BE GLAD I don't have strong opinions on that R_word That is one I take with a grain
of salt and am happy to stay OUT of. (for now at least)
