I also disagree with Jill's statement about obsolete, and frankly I'm surprised. I thought she had previously agreed with and endorsed my definition. However, you posted something entitled "DEALING WITH OBSOLESCENCE" and I couldn't see where it addressed Jill's misstatement, or made any point contrary to what I've been saying. On top of that, you mentioned me in your post. Seemed like I was somehow party to the conversation .
And true to form, you didn't get the point of my comparison to Dean any more than you get anything anyone tries to tell you once you've made up your mind to the contrary. And there's nothing I can do if you can't or won't see that my reference to Kelly was nothing more than a weak attempt to inject a little humor into an otherwise dry and tiresome exchange.
If your AC casinos declare their chips obsolete every time they sell out, I suppose that's their right too. It's just as likely the cage critter you refer to in an earlier post didn't understand the concept of obsolete any better than the cage critters at Hilton understood sold out. They said "sold out." What they meant was, "they ain't payin' me enough to go hustle you chips from the vault."
So when a casino puts out 250 chips, and they leave 100 in the vault to sell later, so they sell out the 150, now they're obsolete. In a month they're ready to sell the other 100 so they're current again. That's not hypothetical. I happen to know where that is going on right this minute.
Maybe I should start a list. Whoever disagrees with my definition of obsolete ... as long as a casino will redeem a chip AND would use the chip for it's intended purpose or make it available in the normal manner if they had it, it's NOT obsolete. ... please stand up and be counted.
And for the record, Archie, there's an easy way to demonstrate you have nothing further to respond to my posts on this subject.
