I have been with the Club for a little over 9 months now. It was recommended to me when I first started was to specialize by starting in one area. Get a whole bunch on $1 chips if you're near a casino. If not, grab as many extras as you can when you visit. There are plenty of other new people that would love to trade with you to get what you have. The web is full of "us." Get into Round Robin's and Shotgun chip trades. The rules are simple and you basically get to trade your doubles for chips you dont have. Get active in the Club, both local and national. By joining the CC>CC, its your first step to becoming part of a group of people that can help you and your collection grow. If you are close enough to a local Chapter, go to a meeting. A great way to meet your local chippers. Soon you will be on your way. I started with a shoebox and 20 chips. 9 months and (4) 200 chip binders later, I feel like I'm part of a "chipping family." I know this board can be VERY intimidating at times BUT dont be afraid to ask questions. All of the chipping "ICONS" are on this bulliten board, and sometimes conversations get heated as they are passionate about "our" hobby. That is the time where you can sit back and learn both sides of issues....and in the end find that they just want to ensure that the hobby they love is protected for future chippers like you and me. When I first started I was "taken under wing" by a small group of people that made sure I didnt get taken advantage of and pointed me in the right direction. I thank them every chance I get! And since I just went through what you are NOW going thru, let me know if I can be of any assistance.
