Whose $20 gold pieces? If you're talking about old US currency, it doesn't matter what your local bank wants to do. If they get some they want to dump at face for some bizarre reason, it doesn't matter. It matters how the US Treasury treats them. When the US Treasury puts $20 gold pieces in circulation at $20 face, they're not obsolete any more. Until then, we all know the US Treasury would gladly give you $20 for that gold piece worth hundreds or thousands of dollars. We all know it won't show up at your local bank as change. It's freaking obsolete!!!
But I don't care how many bags or rolls of quarters you look through looking for a 1965 D. If you can't find one, tough luck. If there ain't one in all the vaults in all the banks of AC, it's still a 1965 copper sandwich quarter with George on one side and the eagle on the other, and if it shows up in the bank it'll go in the drawer to use as change like any other quarter, cause it AIN'T OBSOLETE!!!
It doesn't matter one whit if you're comfortable interpreting black to mean white. You're comfortable being wrong. Obsolete has nothing to do with current inventory. It has to do with intent. But I am glad you're comfortable. I'd hate to see you suffer !
