I looked at mine again, and as you say, the star is hotstamped on the card. The word star is also on mine... I overlooked it the first time as it is stamped at an angle to the edge of the card. My card is also unissued as yours is. Wonder if that means they were never really used? Mine is dated 12/98 below the star... a different date than on your card.
