To me, collecting, trading and even selling casino chips is fun. I really don't see how anybody can make any real money at it. I know some do, but I hope they have another income. It just looks like too much work for the money. But that is one thing I like about it. If it were easy money, everybody would be doing it. Then it would be a lot less fun and more like a business.
I started collecting coins when I was 10 years old. It was lots of fun. I even made a little money at a young age. Then I started going to shows and the fun went out the window. Many of the dealers were sharks. I knew my stuff and it was a good thing I did. Some tried to take advantage of me and I was only a boy. By the time I was in my 20's, I no longer actively collected coins. It was no fun at all.
When I go to a chip show, I have fun. I find I like about 99% of the people I meet. I have never felt like anyone has tried to take advantage of me. Not even my first show when I knew very little about chip collecting. I feel like I'm around old friends.
In my opinion, the trouble with slabbing is simple. It takes the fun out and puts the business in. Do we really want to go the road of coin collecting? I don't think we do.
