Maybe this will help. Christy & Jones was a company that sold gaming supplies, they did not make chips. They also owned a mold (known today as the C&J mold). From about 1958 to 1965 Christy & Jones had their chips made at the Burt Co. on C&J shinny hat and cane mold. In about 1965 they sold their shinny hat and cane mold to Paulson. From 1965 to about 1975 all orders on the C&J mold were from Paulson, but still made at the Burt Co.
Some time in the mid 70's paulson starting making his own hat & cane chips. These chips are not shinny hats and have distorted edge spots. In the late 70's the C&J shinny hat mold was sent from the Burt company to Paulson. I believe Paulson may have used the C&J mold at his factory to make chips. These chips would have shinny hats but distorted spots.

ps: when Christy & Jones owned the mold it was known at the Burt company as the "Hat & Cane", but when sold to Paulson it became the "Top Hat"
