... is intended for discussion of club related issues, which might or might not be about chips and tokens.
Despite the name, our club has always welcomed those who collect or who are otherwise interested in casino and gaming memorabilia of all types.
I have no problem with any of that, even though I do not collect tokens, silver strikes, slot cards, room keys, dice, swizzle sticks, matchbook covers, ashtrays, slot machines (though I'd love to have one of those! ), blackjack tables, dealer visors, post cards or any of the other more esoteric forms of gaming memorabilia. NOTE: In the interests of fairness and full disclosure, I do have to admit that I have a small collection of casino logo golf balls (started recently).
In my opinion, there is a place for all of these things (and those who collect them) in our hobby and on the ChipBoard. To the extent that any of these items are the subject of club business, they would also be appropriately discussed on the club board.
Slot cards are HOT at the moment. They are bringing new collectors into the hobby and the club. I think we should welcome these people with open arms, make them feel at home and encourage their participation in club activities. Anyone who happens not to like slot cards should just skip over the messages about them (which is, for the most part, what I do).
BTW, Gene, do you still read every message?
