PENTHOUSE B - Illegal New Orleans Casino
Al Iachino was a book maker associated with Carlos Marciallis in New Orleans. He took a bust in the early 80's and keep his mouth shut. After he served his time he was given the go ahead to open a joint of his own. He took in Wally Taranto as a partner and opened up The Penthouse B on Severn St in New Orleans. It had two BJ tables and a baccarat table. Operated from 1986 to 1988. It was a plush club for invited guests only. The smallest credit line handed out was $5,000. The only way to get up to it was by a private elevator. I do not know why there is a & between the P and the B on the chip. Wally does not remember either.
The chips are some of the last illegal chips distributed on the LgSq mold by by Jones Brothers in NO. Jones closed down in 88. They are also some of the last LgSq clay compression molded chips made at the Burt Co, as Burt was sold to Chipco in 88. It is possible these are the last clay compression LgSq chips ever made. Maybe not, but someone would have to come up with dates to prove it to me. I am not sure of the date that Louisiana legalized riverboats, so this could have been the last of the LA illegal clubs, also.
I got 18 sets of the chips from Wally in 1999
I have 2 sets left for sale.
The 4 chip set is $45 plus postage of $1
