Could it be that you aren't one of the people who have chips and tokens waitin for them at the Riviera? Sounds like sour grapes to me.
Gosh... It would surprise me to think Bruce was having sour grapes because he doesn’t merit "special attention" by a big casino. I just can’t see that…seriously.
The Karli's are COLLECTORS. Since breakfast in Vegas last January... we share phone conversations 2-3 x a week. They have opened their hearts and home to me without hesitation and have chauffeured me around Las Vegas for chip after chip – place after place… hour after hour – without hesitation. After countless trades, meals and casino runs... my impression of Bruce Karli is simple: he has the patience of Job. He and Donna display generosity and selflessness beyond reproach.
From what I have seen - they don't drink or gamble much. (at least they have never done so with me.)
I don't think they buy "mass quantities" of anything. (although they clearly can afford to.)
I know they share their "limits" with others... dealers and chip services who need/ want more of a certain chips in order to meet the demands of people wanting chips living outside of the LV area.
But doing something kind for others won't qualify them for "special favors" at a big casino... will it? Naaawww... I am sure by "casino standards", a basic 4 chip purchase won’t qualify ANYONE for "the preferred chip holding status". Does this bother him??? I doubt it. If it did… I guess he’d buy more chips, eh?
So Donna stands in line and gets chips (or whatever) like any “normal/ un_listed” person has to do.
AND FOR THE RECORD: Bruce HAS the new Rivera tokens. So why on earth would he be sulking?? He didn't miss out on anything.
What I am hearing from Bruce is more than “sour grapes”. NOT because he hasn't "made some casinos preferred list" in LV. (And the Karli's WILL ALWAYS be on MY "preferred list" ) - but instead ~ I suspect he is disappointed.
Why?? Because he is committed to helping other chippers. He is committed to reasonable prices. He is committed to reaching those that would otherwise find special releases out of reach – because of low issue numbers or price.
He may very well have a case of "sour grapes"… but not because of "lists" and such. But MAYBE because he wishes others would share their good fortune and opportunities to acquire low number/ difficult issues by HELPING other collectors - thus keeping this hobby fun and affordable for all.
Just my opinion,
Sincerely,
Jill Bitner
