Personally I had similar sentements when I saw Rene's auction. "You Got to be Kidding" "Go to ****". However, I do not consider it "Dishonest" and as you say, It is his right. I, as you said, will not bid on them. I do believe his practice here is a bit unfair.
There is a difference between Rene's auction and the one you referenced. Pete put an opening bid on his token at $9.99 and let the bidders establish the pricing. I read the bid history and in this auction there were a few people who REALLY wanted that token. If you check out the recent completed auctions (Link Below) for this token you will find that the average price for a Riviera $10 Hologram Token,(July 4th or Valentines), is under 50. Also if you check the current auctions the going prices are on target for around 45 to 50. When the Hologram was first released most of the New Issues that I looked up were asking 45. I fortunately found one for about 25. If the market is going to establish the price to be something near 45 to 50 I think it is extreme for Rene to open at 55. I think it stinks.
In closing, I hope this board won't take actions like has happened before and blackball his auctions by telling others that they shouldn't bid. These are cool chips and if someone really wants one that bad than they should set that price. If they are willing to bid 60 bucks for one than that is their right.
