Several systems were used before the
slot cards that were inserted into the
machines came into use in the mid 1980's.
These included slots that gave out tokens
that indicated the play action, usually
AL or plastic. The most common seen today
are the various color "Reel Winners" tokens.

Another system used tickets that were given
out by each slot to indicate amount of play.
You then took the tickets to the club desk
with your club card and got points credit
toward prizes or comps. I played slots that
used this systen in the 1980's at Sam's Town
Gold River and Del Webb's Nevada Club both
in Laughlin.
