I was President of SPEEA (formerly Seattle Professional Engineering Employees Association -- now Society of Professional & Engineering Employees in Aerospace) representing the engineers & technical workers at Boeing. A rare breed -- a Union of Professionals! Many of the top managers at Boeing were in SPEEA (including Condit & Mullally) before promotion into management. We often lobbied on behalf of things that the Company wanted (because it would increase jobs, etc.) as well as our own issues.
