Bob; I'm well aware of the differences between the two show promoters and their respective contributions to the hobby .... and I'm also aware of past history as to who began the Super Bowl Chip Show tradition. It was Bill Akeman and CT Rodgers who began this annual January event. Janice O'Neal's post explains the current situation very candidly and forthrightly. Having said that; and giving credit where credit is due, Rene put on an exceptional commercial show last year in Bill's absence.
It seems to me that this conflict could have been avoided. Now I see that one of the show promoters has posted that he plans to do a show at the Trump Marina in Atlantic City in the summer of 2002. Hope it's not on the same weekend as the CC & GTCC Convention.
Perhaps before long, we will see a chip show scheduled every two months in Las Vegas? The Vegas Golden Goose (chip hobby) may be about to have it's proverbial head cut off! There is, after all, too much of a good thing.
