After throwing stuff into a Tupperware bowl for 12 years, I emerged on the ChipBoard about a year and half ago.

If you have a local casino - or a couple of them - go buy some $1 chips and do a little 1 on 1 trading. Not only will it help you establish relationships, but assist you in acquiring some chips reasonably. I know I didn't know what I liked and wanted until I began seeing what was out there.
