I have a perfect method that works!
First remove anything DIRECTLY on top that you can see 80% (or first 1/8 inch layer) and set asside for 'seed'.
Next rake the rest off into a big leaf bag like you use in the yard. Set on curb. If it got THAT deep in the pile and you haven't looked at it YET, you didn't need it in the first place! Exceptions: ANY CHECKS (No Statute of Limitations Here)
Next replace the 1/8 inch layer you removed, this acts as 'seed' for th next crop.
