as politicians get involved things will get sticky. The court decision referred to is from a lower court and is not expected to be upheld on appeal. But even so, if the matter goes to the NY legislature it is a crap shoot whether anything will be approved. Twin casinos in the Buffalo area will not put a hurt on the Canadian casino unless they are able to offer slots and video poker devices--something that the other two NY Indian casinos now do in a manner of speaking with their slotless slots. These casinos are self regulated and I have never read anything about what percentage of money is paid back. Another twist: the NY casinos will be able to offer live poker; the Canadian doesn't. It will be interesting to see if that makes any difference. I will be pleasantly surprised if they open as early as the Spring of '02 as predicted.
