We are proud to announce that JackpotAuctions.com will become the first and only online auction house to be SLABFREE! As of 12 o'clock midnight tonight, the listing or selling of any slabbed chips/strikes will NOT be permitted.

While we do respect an individuals right to collect whatever they choose...we do not feel that the slabbing of chips/strikes is beneficial to our hobby.

The owners of JackpotAuctions.com voted unanimously to make our site SLABFREE!

Our major concerns, (and objections) to slabbing include...but are not limited to:

(a) SLABBING changes a chip, it is no longer in it's natural state...and personally, I like stacking...shuffling...and generally, just playing with my chips.

(b) Chips should not be graded by an outside party...the buyer and seller should come to a mutual agreement as to the value of a particular chip. That's why I like auctions, I can bid what I think it's worth...if you think it's worth more...then you should bid more! We each are capable of deciding what a chip is worth.

(c) Counterfeiting...I worry about the increased possibility and likely-hood of chips being counterfeited.

(d) Value fluctuations...If a chip is slabbed and graded at a particular value, what happens if more are discovered...does the chip need to be re-graded and re-slabbed?

I believe chip collectors are more than capable of placing a value on their chips without any third party intervention. I feel that slabbing would take the "fun" out of chipping...and isn't that why we are in this hobby...for the FUN of it!
