Security outfits have been reporting for years that counterfeiting casino chips is big business.
Recently, in two casino trade magazines in the UK and Europe, it's been reported that six (6) companies in China openly boast and advertise that they're able to copy any chip manufactured.
The articles go on to say that the problem is mostly in the Far East where the games are big and fast -- allowing "operators" to move about without being detected.
Other documentations goes back to the 18th and 19th-Century in European casinos (mostly metal and Mother-of-Pearl).
(The above has nothng to do with the need for slabbing.)
