It was great seeing a lot of “old” friends and meeting a lot of new friends at the convention this year!
This year was the first time I attended not as a "regular" member - yet as a volunteer. MAN it was a lot of fun helping Wayne and Belinda - yet a lot of work too!!! It is truly amazing what goes on behind the scenes. They and all the past Convention Chairs really do work very hard and deserve a lot of thanks and appreciation for all of their hard work!!! My hat is off to them, and I would like to say that it was my pleasure to work for/with you!!! My hat is off to all the other volunteers as well!!!
I also enjoyed playing in the poker tournament - my first time playing Texas Hold'em - and only the second time playing poker!!! I was sure that I would only at most one hand... I actually lasted two hours, won two hands and was the second one bumped from the table!!! I was amazed!!! I would have lasted longer, if my mind was there with me, as I chased a straight, yet only to realize that “9, 10, Q, K, A” which ISN’T a straight…. DUH!!!
Only problem was that I left the tournament at 11 pm and I had to get up early to present at CHIPOLOGY 201 then next morning... When I got back to the Trop and got into bed - my mind started to wonder - what UV marks would be on the Poker Tournament chips? I knew that if I didn't check, then I couldn't get to sleep, and if I did check and Gene Trimble was able to get my request into PaulSon prior to Gaming approval of the chips, that I would be wired and couldn't sleep... Well I gave in, and got up to check. I was wired - the reasons see the image below:
THANKS Gene!!!
Regards,
Dick
