I like the idea (much better than my suggestion that all the dealers get together and make one big alphabetized pile of chips), but I suspect that the logisitics will be impossible. Think how long it would take for all the dealers to go through their inventories to check to see if they have it, if they brought it, and if they already sold it. Some are so organized they could do it with no problem, others would take all day to go through the list.
I wonder how many dealers keep their inventory on a computer? Perhaps a service could be offered where before the convention a dealer could submit the data from their inventory list (just a catalog no prices) and a central database could be set up. This would only be of any value if eenough dealers submitted the list. It wouldn't be real time so it wouldn't reflect if the chip had been sold, but it would be a start.
Survey question for dealers:
1) Do you keep your inventory on computer?
2) What program do you use?
