... examples of a rare chip (say TCR Z) at a swap meet and paid a couple of bucks each for them, would you be willing to sell them to fellow club members for the same couple of bucks you paid?
I doubt that many of us would -- and I certainly wouldn't think it unethical or inappropriate for you to try to sell them for their catalog value.
Seems pretty much the same thing to me. I spent nearly $1000 on transportation, room, food, etc., to attend the convention. The small windfall I might someday receive by selling my Hard Rock ncv chip will almost certainly never cover my expenses.
I have no problem with those who choose to do so selling their Hard Rock chips at whatever the market will bear.
BTW, I would not sell mine even if I COULD cover my expenses by doing so.
