The card with the magic marker line down the side was not used as a room key but was inserted in the pre-registration packages as a souvenir. Cards without the lines were actually given to hotel room guests as their room key.... but I would bet the line can be removed with a little alcohol rub. Yes, they are worth saving as many hotel key collectors will be seeking them out for iclusion in their personal collections or as traders for other hotel room keys.
