My Name is Mark Scott and I am the owner of Sahara Coins, LLC, Summerlin Rare Coin Center, LLC and Bad Beat Gaming, LLC. I just wanted to clear up a Few things I read on this board today. I have , to the best of my knowledge, never met Jim Rielly. He did not meet with "the owner" at the show. Also The individual who is manning our table has been there from 9:30 to 6:00 and has not left early. We have heard from both sides of the debate. We have sold 25 or 30 chips as of 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Not what we had hoped for but we are happy none the less. I have spoke with a few collectors and dealers about their thoughts on the subject and have heard everything from one extreme to the other. I even heard that one well known dealer came by the table and told my father-in-law that "Mark Scott sure as hell wouldn't be in the show next year". You must be kidding me..... Sometimes I feel that There is a compound in Idaho with a few to many empty bunks. In our industry (Coins & Currency) we have the E.A.C. (Early American Copper Society) We affectionately call them eek geeks. They feel the same way you do about having Early U.S. Copper Certified by a 3rd party grading service. Over the years Millions of dollars worth of coins in this area have been sold. Certified coins are at the EAC convention every year. One of my closest friends in the industry is a member and goads me all the time about my "Slabs". What I am trying to say is, Why all the obvious hate? I respect whatever you do as long as it is ethical and legal. We are all adults with a brain and common sense. Let each person make up his or her own mind when given the option to buy a raw chip or a certified chip. (They can do it all by themselves, I promise). People in this country have fought many wars to preserve our right to choose freely what we as individuals deem is right for us. I can name several examples of what can, and has, happened when one or a group has not let up when another one or group has not conformed to "their" way of thinking. I played in the poker tournament last night and spoke with a new member who had joined up about 3 months ago. I asked him how he felt about slabbing and he said he really did not know much about it but felt that he was leaning toward the "list" because he felt so much peer pressure at the show. Wow! The Bullies are back in the schoolyard! I was talking to another member in line who told me he signed the list in the beginning and now had second thoughts. I asked him why he was doubting himself and he responded:"why should I care? I can make up my mind about what I want and who I want to get it from". I walked around the show and spoke to 15 or 20 people about anything other than chip slabbing and found some real nice people. People that I would like to get to know better in the years to come (we can never have enough people that we look forward to spending time with) and it saddens me to think that we can't sit on the same part of the bus or use the same drinking fountain. I don't get into long debates with back and forth mud slinging as I have Businesses to run, but I thought you might want to hear from someone who has been there from the beginning(Twice). Thanks for the interest, Mark
