As long as we're speculating, I thought maybe it was a capacity problem at the Paul-son plant in Mexico. With a large order for chips to fill the racks at the Venetian, I figured they just didn't have enough molds of one type to complete the job and still get the chips delivered by opening day. (However, if that was the case, it seems that more than 100 of the "errors" would have been made.)
It's one thing to have late delivery on a LE chip, but if your rack chips aren't on time, you can't open the casino.
Again, just speculation.
