Jim,
If you look at the scans that Andy and Jill put up, the chip on the right is done in the Venetian house mold. The one on the left is a Hat & Cane.
The $1 and $5 rack chips for the Venetian were ordered in the Hat & Cane mold. Some how a few were made in the house mold. Only approx 100 of these error chips exist. The error was discovered shortly after they opened in '99 and the local chip collectors/dealers went to looking thru racks and racks of chips for these and found very few of them. I know that Janice/Jerry O'Neal, Andy Hughes and others looked for weeks for these.
I stayed there on 3 different occassions within 90 days of the opening and was aware of the possibility, went thru racks myself. Virtually all the stacks of the $5 chips on the tables were gone thru looking for these also. The count that Howdy used in last year's auction is accurate. Approx 100 chips or just one rack. Some of the LE's were done in the house mold, but NOT the rack/table chips. These are in fact an error chips. Hope this helps.
