Magazine Article: GERMAN GAMBLING SPAS/1872

I've made copies of a June, 1872, Harper's Magazine article about the German gambling spas, by Junius Henri Browne.

The article is 22-pages, with 24-illutrations (engravings) showing a full-page picture of the Wiesbaden gambling salon, diagrams of Roulette and Rouge-et-Noir, along with other interesting information about the casinos and the people who frequented them. Engravings of wagering, a pcture of Countess Kisslet gambling (taking pieces off of her stack, as is a gentleman sitting next to her); a picture of a croupier working his rake on the table, and an interesting note that the gambling at Baden Baden and all the other German gambling spas will soon close due to Emporer William who refuses to renew licenses. The author does not know that those casinos will close in September (1872) and will stay closed for the duration of the 19th-Century and for 48-years into the 20th-Century. Interesting reading.

Copies of the 22-page article are available at $3.00.
