Hey Jill,
I was drafted to do CHIPOLOGY - both 101 & 201. I didn't have anything to do with what time the seminar starts - Yet I do understand why.
Let me try to explain - since most people are "volunteers" and are a mix of collectors (like me) and dealers (not me) - the show is why most people are coming to the convention. The Seminars are a plus - since there are a lot of activities such as the Poker Tournament, auction, club business meeting, Casino Shows, etc. in the evenings, the only other time is to put them in the morning or during the show. If the later, very few dealers would participate in the seminars, and probably even a few other collectors would not go during the show - as they would "miss" a great chip that they just had to have!!!
Note: I'm planning on playing in the poker tournament this year (I have to since the chips are of my design - and I can't miss an opportunity like this one...), so I agree with you that 0830 Hrs on Friday WILL be VERY, very early - for all of us!!!
Hang in there, and I hope that you will find the material in the presentation good enough that you will not fall asleep... If you do, I'm sure Andy or Katie will "throw chips" at you!!!
Regards,
Dick
